Full Job Description
First impressions count and our team has a key role in setting the high standard of client onboarding service that our clients expect of Irwin Mitchell. As part of the team, you will work very closely with colleagues who are conducting CDD and AML checks to onboard our clients, ensuring we meet all Client Due Diligence (CDD), AML and Conflict requirements. The Client Onboarding quality checker will play a leading role in the 1st line of defence for the LLP, ensuring all CDD AML and Conflicts cases are reviewed and monitored against our CDD policy. You will support the Head of Client Onboarding and Client Onboarding Team Leaders to ensure files are completed compliantly in line with all legal and regulatory requirements. The role will deliver quality checking, performance feedback and support competency accreditation to all Client Onboarding teams that are responsible for conducting checks across the LLP, ensuring cases are managed in compliance with internal policy and procedure and all regulatory requirements. What You'll Be Doing
- You will work with the Client Onboarding Department to support the design and implementation of a CDD/AML/ Conflicts competency accreditation scheme and quality framework which
- Conduct quality checks on Client Due Diligence (CDD), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Conflict files, ensuring compliance with firm policies, regulatory requirements, and quality frameworks.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on quality assessments, including findings and recommendations, to leadership and relevant teams.
- Initiate corrective actions for process or regulatory failures and collaborate with case handlers to resolve issues, escalating when necessary.
- Suggest and support the implementation of process and control improvements within the onboarding team.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to Client Onboarding team members, including training, knowledge sharing, and support for new starters.
- Stay informed on AML/CDD regulatory updates and promote consistent standards, record-keeping, and quality control.

- Detailed understanding of CDD, AML and Conflict policies, controls and procedures.
- In depth technical knowledge, skills, and experience in CDD, AML and/or Conflicts ideally in a law firm, for both domestic and international individual and business clients.
- A detailed understanding of the regulatory environment in which the firm operates for CDD, AML and Conflicts for both domestic and international individual and corporate clients.
- Good written/oral communication skills required in relation to staff at all levels across the business.
- Demonstrate experience of working autonomously and be able to make decisions within their sphere of responsibility.
- Experience of preparing and delivering quality check feedback to one to one or larger groups.
- Knowledge of AML software such as Smart Search, World Check, or other software providers, although this is not essential.
- Strong team player with a commitment to quality and compliance.
- Adaptable under pressure, with strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrates responsibility, resilience, and a proactive approach to learning and improvement
