Full Job Description

We're seeking an expert Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our new Cloud Enabled Risk Decisioning Orchestration Service which is hosted on GCP.

As a top-tier Quality Engineer, you'll define and execute robust test strategies, effectively develop teams, and contribute to the seamless integration of test automation and DevOps practices.

This role is about delivering at speed, focusing on what can be creatively challenged and optimised, ensuring that we put into practice the Group's standards and guardrails for running a sophisticated and evolving technology strategy.

You'll play a pivotal part driving the adoption and maturity of automation and engineering excellence to enhance efficiency and scalability.

The role will be hands on, with the right candidate having experience, participating in engineering activities on the Google Cloud Platform.

  • You can expect to be doing…

  • Contribute to comprehensive test strategies, considering the unique requirements of the Cloud Enabled Risk Decisioning Orchestration Service (CERDOS)

  • Drive the adoption of test automation and best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability

  • Self-manage, plan, perform and monitor end-to-end functional and non-functional testing activities, including defect management

  • Work within and contribute to a best-in-class culture staying abreast of industry trends and new technologies, continually improving your expertise

  • We understand no one can be an authority in every aspect of Quality Engineering, however, if you have technical test automation within Java or Python, we would like to hear from you.

    Experience working as a Quality Engineer with a knowledge of test lifecycle, test processes and test tools

  • Ability to create test artefacts in line with an agreed test strategy, writing automation scripts against user stories and maintaining test traceability

  • Experience working in collaborative and agile teams

  • Advanced Java, Python, Cucumber, Gradle, Maven, BDD/TDD, GitHub, Jenkins, IntelliJ, Jira/Confluence experience

  • Coding ability (e.g. Java, Python) to support the creation and maintenance of automation frameworks

  • Experience in upskilling junior members in the team within Java/Python

  • Experience in defining test automation frameworks

  • Experience in testing Middleware/Microservices/APIs

  • Previous experience in quality engineering practices in both manual and automated testing, functional / non-functional coverage throughout the testing lifecycle

  • Experience in defect management and documentation

  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, practices and working experience with tools such as Docker, Cloud, Jenkins, Splunk, Dynatrace

  • Experience of exploratory test techniques

  • Experience of working on data migration, database testing or feed files

  • Understanding of batch processes, batch scheduling


  • It would be great if you had…
  • Experience in GCP/cloud transformation projects

  • Experience of database testing

  • Knowledge of emerging test tools in the industry and experience in evaluating test tools.
