Join the Engines & Transmissions department at JLR, where innovation meets excellence in Powertrain Engineering. As a vital part of our team, you will play a key role in the development and application of cutting-edge Engine and Transmission Systems, along with advancing Fuel Cell technology for the entire JLR Group. We are seeking a Quality Manager who will lead the engineering changes for current Car Engine and Transmission projects, ensuring that future updates and quality improvements make a swift impact in the market. This position demands strong leadership skills to manage a dedicated team focused on these complex commodities. You will collaborate closely with teams responsible for Engine, Transmission, and Driveline Design and Release, and you will also oversee the engineering support needed for aftermarket projects, providing technical input for component and engine assembly. Your responsibilities will include linking each quality improvement project to component changes and guiding your team from component design through to part release, ensuring that every design meets the highest standards. You will focus on minimising the time required for implementing Quality Permanent Corrective Actions and driving the throughput of releases. Aligning validation processes with the Validation Team will be crucial, as will managing supplier SREA's and addressing engineering actions. Your leadership will extend to supporting the engine plant PVT and OTG processes, making a significant impact on our operational efficiency.   • A passionate drive to minimise the time to resolve customer issues.
  • A strong knowledge of Engine, Transmission and Component Design and Validation.
  • Applicants need to be qualified to degree level or have equivalent experience.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills, self-confidence and a 'passion for the product' are personal qualities needed to succeed, being self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to lead the resolution of technical issues.
  • Proven experience of leading squads in an Agile framework & delivering improved ways of working.
  • Previous experience within Product Development - a significant proportion of which should have been within Powertrain covering hardware, calibration and control systems.
  • Experience in full Product lifecycle delivery - concept to production.
