Full Job Description

The appointee will collaborate with the Director of Midwifery to develop, implement, and oversee continuous clinical governance pathways, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the directorate. In close partnership with the Women's and Children's Services (WACS) Management team, the role ensures robust communication systems and upholds high standards of care, adhering to both national and local guidelines, while serving as the primary contact for WACS governance matters.

The role entails crafting work programs to align with the objectives set by the Care Quality Commission, NHS England, NHS Resolution (Maternity Incentive Scheme), and other relevant national, service-specific, or local performance frameworks.

The incumbent will be accountable for the strategic and operational advancement of Quality Improvement and Transformation, focusing on safety and quality in maternity care, especially concerning the MTP key safety deliverables.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide the key link between WACS services and the Corporate Governance team, also linking in with Gynaecology and Paediatric services. Providing expert knowledge and advice on all quality and assurance requirements based on relevant legislation, national and local agreements, terms and conditions, and policies and procedures.

The post holder will be responsible and accountable to the Director of Midwifery. Working as part of a matrix approach to delivery, the post holder will lead by example ensuring individuals think and work outside of traditional organisational or professional silos. The post holder will foster and embody an approach to leadership that is both collaborative and collective.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
