Full Job Description

  • Advanced problem solving / trouble shooting ability
  • Relies on independent decision-making and problem solving to complete job tasks, including responding to unforeseen quality issues and identifying root cause corrective action.
  • Gather assembly defect data and lead a team to support continuous improvement efforts. Would develop and update successive checks for each area, including check sheets for the assembly line and quality groups
  • Provide oversight during the assembly process to ensure routings conform to work instructions as well as provide feedback to relevant departments design and manufacturing issues that emerge through the assembly process. May work with Engineering on the solution to address the issue.
  • Document testing and root cause analysis in CPI.
  • Cross-functional communication to complete tasks, through the BIQ process
  • Catalogue quality issues into a computer system and flag defects for repair.
  • Resolving issue in line with corporate time lines (such as PIQ metrics which are reportable)
  • Generating Quality metrics, reporting out to management on metrics & significant issues
  • Attends high level meetings with internal and external groups as requested to determine and communicate root cause.
  • Contributing team member with the ability to lead a team of inspectors as per Caterpillars Corporate Process.
  • Attend and contribute to daily start of shift meetings ensuring issues through PIQ process for example are shared.
  • Responds to quality incidents ensuring relevant investigation and analysis to understand issue takes place and corrective action taken.
  • Provides support to the Section Manager as required and covers roles in team as required.
  • Assists in the creation training & implementation of the CQMS process.
  • Generate and work continuous improvement ideas for assigned area using CI process.
  • Adhere to Companies Health & Safety policy and safe working practices
  • Undertake training and further learning as required
  • Report all Health & Safety incidences in line with the company guidelines

    Demonstrable Quality knowledge and background within manufacturing/production environment
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and measure parts using on site dimensional equipment including CMM and Faro Arms
  • Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Strong computer skills, excel, PowerPoint.
  • A strong Quality based skill set would be an advantage.
