Full Job Description

The delivery of the Westinghouse UK Fuel Growth Program is essential to the future nuclear fuel products for all current and future reactor types and is a fundamental part of the UK Government's Nuclear Roadmap and Net Zero 2050 commitment. The portfolio is fundamental to the Westinghouse UK Fuel long-term strategy and essential for the growth of Springfields Fuels site. We are looking for a Quality Systems Engineer who excels in a complex and regulated nuclear environment. Responsibilities include implementing the Quality Management System, conducting audits, driving continous improvement, managing projects, and providing training. It's a unique opportunity to learn and contribute to quality management. As a Quality Systems Engineer you will work under general supervision, reviewing at project milestones and / or on completion by Senior Management. Your role involves providing positive leadership on quality matters, promoting a culture of best practice and engaging all employees in continuous improvement. Additionally, your willingness to learn and develop the role to support both personal progression and business performance.,

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the quality management system and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate, to
  • ensure that core operations and project activities comply with the relevant procedures and QA arrangements.
  • Support and actively participate in the Site Management Systems transformation project.
  • To interact and influence QA arrangements at all levels in the organisation.
  • Support the ongoing development of the Site Audit Programme.
  • Lead / participate in inspections / audits in support of Site Audit Programme.
  • Support the application of quality requirements in the delivery of Growth Projects.
  • Deliver activities in support of the Site Corrective Action program including reporting non-conformances, implementation of corrective actions and
  • supporting investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements for Organisational Capability including nuclear baselines and the management of organisational change.
  • Support delivery of Management Review activities.
  • Provide advice and support to records management activities.
  • Prepare summary reports / metrics in support of EHS&Q Forum and Management Systems Meetings.
  • Support application of document control arrangements.
  • Act as guide for external audits.

  • HNC in a Technical Discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 Years experience in a quality related role.
  • Professional Certifications: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (or willingness to complete) ; ISO 14001 Lead Auditor (or willingness to complete), ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (or willingness to complete)
  • Membership of an appropriate Professional Membership is desirable This role will provide opportunity for personal growth and development through a personal development plan which may be supported by the opportunity to undertake additional professional certifications where necessary.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results focused with a team-centered approach.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in auditing or surveillance.
  • Awareness of Site Licence requirements associated with quality assurance and arrangements required to ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Quality Management standards and guidelines including ISO 9001.
  • Working knowledge of the current versions of IAEA GSR-2, BS EN ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 19443 (training will be provided where necessary).
  • Experienced in the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge and application of the Traits of a Healthy Nuclear Safety Culture.
