Full Job Description

Digital Forensic Services are vital to helping our officers to combat crime, protect the vulnerable, enable safer communities, and make a difference that really matters. Thames Valley Police is making a multi-year investment in our Forensic Investigation Unit and is transforming our wide array of forensic disciplines and in particular digital forensics, to create a forward looking, accredited service which delivers proportionate timely services that support effective crime investigation for TVP and other external organisations. As part of this transformation, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Portfolio of Forensic Investigation Unit (FIU) as a Quality Technical Officer for the Forensic Audio Visual Unit and Forensic Multimedia Unit. This role will support both units in their day to day delivery of Quality Standards / accreditation activities (ISO 17025) and technical training, to support the delivery of accredited services to the Force and Criminal Justice System. The role combines the skills of a Forensic Audio Visual practitioner with the requirement of supporting accreditation.

  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the Forensic Audio Visual / Multimedia technical activities with the expectation that competence will be gained to effectively carry out the role.
  • Previous experience of working within an ISO accredited environment, for example ISO17025, ISO17020.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and delivery of training.
  • Competent in the use of a range of IT (Information Technology) systems, with extensive experience of using MS Office applications (Word/Excel/ Power point). Ability to learn further applications and pieces of software when required.
  • Proven ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service and communicate at all levels with internal and external partners.
  • Experience of carrying out or being actively involved in internal and external audits.
  • Good standard of secondary education including English, Science and Maths to GCSE level (Grades A-C/4-9) or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written English and good numeracy skills.
  • Must have capability to travel to different locations across the force and occasionally outside the force area. For this reason, a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
