Quantum Engineer
London
Up to £125k + Bonus & Benefits
Lead the way in researching and devising compilation techniques for quantum algorithms, tailored specifically for resilient quantum computers.
Aid in the creation and enhancement of quantum compilation and simulation tools or software.
Work intimately with external collaborators to apply, confirm, and improve quantum algorithms across a range of fields, including life sciences and sustainability.
Conduct simulations and analyze resource needs for implementing fault-tolerant quantum algorithms in photonic quantum computing.
Collaborate with the quantum architecture team to harmonize algorithmic methods and architectural design.
Profile
This role involves leading the exploration and advancement of quantum algorithms, while also spearheading collaborative initiatives on applying quantum algorithms to practical computational problems.
The team concentrates on fault-tolerant regime algorithms and works in close sync with the quantum architecture development.
Creation of new quantum algorithms, scoping of use-cases, simulation and resource requirement analysis, optimizing compiling techniques, and developing universal fault-tolerant logic methods.
This specific role focuses on the compilation of quantum algorithms in both theory and software.
The architect will transform vague or high-level descriptions of quantum algorithms into clear constructions, contribute to embedding these constructions in code, assess their performance using resource estimation and simulation tools, and enhance the efficiency of running beneficial quantum algorithms on fault-tolerant hardware.
Key Duties :
+ Pioneer research and development of compilation strategies for quantum algorithms customized for fault-tolerant quantum computers.
+ Assist in designing and developing quantum compilation and simulation tools / software.
+ Collaborate closely with external partners to implement, validate, and optimize quantum algorithms for application in diverse sectors, such as life sciences or sustainability.
+ Perform simulation and resource requirement analysis for fault-tolerant implementation of quantum algorithms in photonic quantum computing.
+ Team up with the quantum architecture group to jointly optimize algorithmic methods with architectural design.

+ A degree in Physics, Math, or Computer Science or equivalent is mandatory.
+ A PhD in Physics, Math, or Computer Science, specializing in quantum information theory or quantum computation, is preferable.
+ Relevant research experience in quantum circuit compilation, quantum algorithms, or deployment of quantum computing-related software, either in academia or industry.
+ Proficiency in quantum algorithms and compiling in the fault-tolerant gates regime is advantageous.
+ Previous experience in working with academic or industry partners to examine practical quantum applications is desirable.
+ Excellent team player who can collaborate effectively across different departments, locations, and time zones.
+ The ability to work independently and make valuable contributions in a dynamic start-up environment.
