Full Job Description

We are looking for a part time radiographic aide who will rotate through Warwick, Stratford and Leamington Hospital. The job will include weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rotational basis.
In this role you will work as part of our friendly Radiology team, assisting the Radiology Consultants, Sonographers and Radiographers; caring for patients undergoing radiology imaging procedures. Radiographic aides are fundamental to the smooth running of the radiology department supporting clinical activities in all modalities including CT, MR, Ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
This role involves assisting patients in preparation and during their imaging procedures, helping them to change, preparing and cleaning rooms, organising patient lists and removing cannulas. You will rotate through the all modalities in the Radiology department including X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology and will work closely with Radiologists, radiographers, nurses and sonographers.
You need to be able to work in a team environment and be able to work under pressure. You will need to be a good communicator as you will have to liaise with a variety of staff and patients. You should also have good telephone skills as you must be able to take messages accurately. Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
The post commences as a Band 2 and following training and successful assessment of competencies will be uplifted to Band 3.

Main duties of the job
To support a team of Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers in delivering a diagnostic imaging service to patients.
To undertake clinical, clerical and housekeeping duties across all sites including evening and weekend shifts., To assist Radiologists and Sonographers with Ultrasound lists.
To assist Radiographers with CT and MRI lists.
To assist Radiographers in general and accident and emergency radiology.
To assist Consultant Radiologists and Radiographers in fluoroscopic procedures.
To assist with clerical duties including inputting data onto the Radiology Information System and liaising with patients at the radiology reception desk.
Assist Radiographers and Porters in conveying patients from the wards to the radiology department.
To change/prepare patients ready for clinical examinations.
To communicate with patients and relatives effectively.
To prepare trolleys for sterile procedures.
To assist Consultant Radiologists with sterile procedures including biopsies and drainage examinations in both Ultrasound and CT.
Manage own designated workload in liaison with Consultant Radiologists and Radiographers.
Liaise with wards in organising patient lists for clinical areas.
Make up specialist drinks for MRI and CT examinations.
Take preparation to wards for inpatient CT and MRI examinations.
Remove patient cannulas.
Maintain stock and linen levels in all clinical areas.
Ensure clinical areas are tidy and ready for use.
Work a variety of shifts including weekend and bank holidays.
Work across hospital sites including Warwick, The Leamington Rehabilitation and Stratford Hospitals.
Communications and Working Relationships
To work and communicate effectively with all patients, radiology staff and other hospital employees in the delivery of a high quality diagnostic imaging service.
To assist in the training of new appointments to Radiographic Aide posts.

Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.
