Full Job Description

1. To maintain a comprehensive radiological examination appointment system for the Department by ensuring all appointment requests are accurately input onto the x-ray system in a timely manner, in line with Trust and Government guidelines.
2. To undertake a comprehensive search of systems to cross reference patient examinations to ensure no duplicate requests are inputting and ensure patient demographic data is accurate.
3. Where appropriate, to ensure requests are verified by x-ray consultants and clinical leads prior to the appointing and providing print outs of previous reports to facilitate this process.
4. Take action as necessary to ensure patient DNAs are recorded and dealt with in line with Trust protocols., 1. 5. To encompass and utilize new technologies as and when they become operational.
6. Regular communication with Wards, GPs and outpatients using written and verbal communication regarding servicing/breakdown of rooms etc, which will affect patient diagnosis.
7. Regular direct communication with GPs, Consultants, Ward and patients regarding diagnostic procedures whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
8. Daily contact with senior diagnostic staff and consultants regarding staffing, room availability and urgent requests.
9. Regular discussion with female patients concerning 10-day rule protocols.
10. Regular liaison with private patient officers concerning appointing patients.
11. Produce appointments letters in a timely manner enclosing the correct preparation sheet and medication required according to radiologist and department guidelines/protocols.
12. Co-ordinate patient information to include admission for special interventional procedures with the referring consultant's secretary and informing wards of appointment time and preparation required.
13. Frequently exposed to distressing circumstances when communicating with patients/relatives regarding appointments and preparation for procedures.
14. Keep a record of maintenance agreements for room services to ensure lists are re-allocated/closed.
15. Continuously check all appointments slots are utilized to ensure efficient and effective use of department resources.
16. Attend department staff briefings.
17. Work within Trust/Department guidelines/protocols.
18. Provide cover due to sickness absence or annual leave when required.
19. Undertake all administrative procedures pertaining to role including reception duties across all sites (Warrington, Halton, CSTM)

The successful candidate will need to always provide high level customer service and possess excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are an essential part of this role.
