Full Job Description

· To assist the Radiographic, Radiological and Clerical staff in a wide range of clinical, technical and clerical procedures undertaken within the MRI/CT department. This includes weekends, bank holidays and long days.
· Input data and maintain the integrity of data held in the IT systems used within Radiology (Radiology Information Systems, Hospital Information System, Picture Archiving and Communication System and the Hospital Results System).
· To assist in the directing of patients in and around the Department and/or Trust and answering general enquiries, within the Trust data protection agreement.
To ensure all requests meet the IR(ME)R regulations., To work as part of the MRI/CT Departmental team, delivering a high-quality service to patients attending for examinations and treatments.
To assist Consultant Radiologists and Radiographers in patient care and general duties before, during and post radiological examinations/procedures., Northampton General Hospital is one of the largest employers in the area and we are on an exciting journey. To assist Consultant Radiologists and Radiographers in patient care and general duties before, during and post radiological examinations/ procedures.
Liaise with medical and nursing staff to ensure patients are examined and treated in an efficient and professional manner.
To undertake routine clerical duties in accordance with departmental procedures and protocols including dealing with telephone queries
To assist in the reception/dispatch of patients.
To perform the initial patient screening procedure and provide an explanation of the examination.
To prepare patients for examination including the administration of oral contrast if appropriate.
Ensure all paperwork is completed and all details are entered on the Radiology Information System.
To maintain stock records.
To undertake routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
To assist in the Quality Assurance Programme
To be responsible for their own personal development and to attend mandatory training as required by the Trust.
Ensure Health and Safety legislation is met, and appropriate standards maintained within the Radiology Department
To be familiar with the fire procedures for the department.
Ensure all infection control standards are adhered to, and high levels of cleanliness are maintained.
To report any untoward incident, accident or loss relating to staff, patient or visitor in the correct form and to the appropriate authority.
To report any equipment defect/loss/malfunction to the appropriate authority.
To undertake measures to ensure the security of yourself, the premises and the property within the Department and Trust.
To promote a good working relationship with staff external to the Radiology department.
To answer the telephone in a professional caring manner.
Ensure communication is maintained within the Radiology Department between the various disciplines

· The postholder may be required to carry out other relevant duties as required.
