Radionuclide Therapy Clinical Nurse Specialist

We require a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a good amount of experience in Radionuclide Therapy to lead a team to provide the safe therapeutic management of a defined patient caseload, acting as a key worker to co-ordinate and oversee therapeutic treatment and care on the department., The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in working with Radionuclides in their administration, disposal,
and safe handling.

A key aspect of the job role involves communicating not only with patients, but other members of staff ranging from Nuclear Medicine Radiographers/Technologists, Consultants, Administrative staff, other nursing staff and wider trust staff and so excellent communication skills are a must.

The role encompasses the responsibility of leading a team to provide the safe therapeutic management of a defined patient / client caseload. In particular this will involve delivering palliative treatment utilising Lutiteum-177 for Prostate and Neuroendocrine tumours (NET).

This will involve providing specialist nursing to include the delivery of bespoke radiation protection advice, education and support to patients as well as their carers, whether this be other healthcare professionals or relatives/close contacts.

The role also includes the responsibility to work within given provisions to manage waiting lists meeting local delivery and waiting time targets as well as the specific needs of individual service users.

The successful candidate can expect to work a shift pattern falling within Mon-Fri and 8am-6pm except for within exceptional circumstances. Flexible shift patterns within these core hours can be negotiated depending on the needs of the service.
