Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Technologist to extend their experience to management of a licenced radiopharmacy.

The post holder will be expected to act as the Radiopharmacy Production Manager on the specials licence which is regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

In addition they will be responsible for the day to day running of the radiopharmacy service.

There will also be involvement in some of the diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine service including some training of the junior staff. Nuclear Medicine is a multidisciplinary team with Clinical Scientist, Clinical Technologists, Nurses and admin.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist advice on the manufacture, dispensing and administration of all radiopharmaceuticals.

Provide specialist training of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) .

Lead and prepare necessary data for MHRA inspections.

Responsible for ensuring exception reports relating the radiopharmacy are acted upon..

To act as 'authorised person' working to well defined procedures for the release of radiopharmaceutical products as per requirements of MHRA Specials license.

Manage and participate in manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals in isolators under aseptic conditions for administration to patients.

Develop and update protocols for the radiopharmacy.

Responsible for determining staff are competent to undertake tasks unsupervised in the radiopharmacy.

Responsible for ensuring the renewal of contracts for radiopharmaceuticals for ULHT working with procurement.

Aseptically dispense patient doses of radiopharmaceuticals using radionuclide calibrators employing dose decay calculations and dosing factors where appropriate to comply with IRMER.

Perform intravenous and subcutaneous injections of radiopharmaceuticals.

Act as an Operator under IRMER (2017) to carry out routine and specialist diagnostic Nuclear Medicine investigations.

Nuclear Medicine is a clinical diagnostic service covering routine and complex diagnostic procedures (imaging and non-imaging) as well as radionuclide therapeutic treatments. The Radiopharmacy produces products under a Specials licence from Medicines and Healthcare products regulatory Agency (MHRA) required by the service daily.

ULHT is a newly appointed teaching trust with good links to the University.

Lincoln is beautiful city with good schools and reasonable housing with good links to London.
