The group is responsible for the Radiotherapy Departments Linear Accelerators, CT Scanners and other radiotherapy equipment.
The MEMO Radiotherapy Group are involved in the whole life management of a wide range of radiotherapy medical equipment and also provide some support to the other departments within the BHOC building.
The job involves carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on various complex medical equipment. This will include HV, high energy RF, analogue and digital circuits, and water cooling. The linacs also have both vacuum and gas filled components.
Team members have the specialised technical ability, knowledge and skills to maintain and repair equipment used for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients, and to ensure that the equipment remains safe and within specification.
The post holder will have the requisite knowledge and skills to work independently with complex electrical medical equipment. They will have the knowledge to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and have authority to refer problems to suitably qualified colleagues.
Professional training will provide the basis to allow the post holder to work on a range of equipment and this will include some manufacturer provided technical training courses.
More senior staff in the department will supervise all of the post holder's work until considered qualified and competent., + Using knowledge and training carry out the acceptance, performance and safety checks of new equipment, ascertain appropriate documentation is supplied and to bring to the attention of the Line Manager new products where technical manuals and training may be required.
+ Work safely with potentially fatal voltages and currents when repairing medical equipment.
+ Plan and organise servicing, calibration and repair for a range of patient-critical electro-medical equipment by liaising with users and suppliers. Prioritise work load in response to urgent requests for assistance.
+ Carry out planned and corrective maintenance, functional testing, and calibration and quality control tests on a wide range of complex medical devices. Use Manufacturer's Service Manuals, following and interpreting circuit diagrams in order to diagnose faults.
+ The post holder should have a good working knowledge of the MHRA's Managing Medical Devices Policy, EU Medical Device Directives, ISO Quality Management systems, CQC regulations and other appropriate legislation and guidelines relating to Medical Devices.
+ For the Radiation group the post holder should also have good working knowledge of IRR & IRMER Regulations, Electrical Installation Regulations, Estates HTM and HBN's.
+ Order supplies of parts and accessories for a range of electro-medical equipment in preparation for its repair and maintenance. Be responsible for the safe use of the medical devices, test equipment and tools in the post-holder's care., the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
