Further details about the role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our school team. We are two primary schools within Oakbridge Federation, Rangefield Primary School and Forster Park Primary School.Forster Park hosts our Resource Base and Rangefield Primary hosts our cross federation Nursery. Both schools are maintained and within Lewisham Local Authority.Oakbridge serves a diverse community that embraces varying cultural backgrounds, which supports our children in becoming lifelong learners. Our children are friendly and keen to learn and thrive on challenge; they have good relationships with each other and enjoy the whole learning experience that we offer at both schools.

Your main responsibility will be to assist teachers in delivering high-quality education and supporting the children in their learning journey. You will undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses. Record achievement and progress of children and report back to the teacher. You will support children in the use of ICT for learning activities and to develop their competence and independence in its use. You will prepare, maintain and use equipment required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist children in their use.

You will need to be creative in your approach to supporting children, be caring, a good communicator and have the ability to meet the needs of all children.

You will possess:

- Experience of working with children of relevant age

- Good numeracy and literacy skills

- General understanding of the national curriculum and other basic learning programmes

- Basic understanding of child learning and development

- Ability to relate well to children and adults and work constructively as part of a team

- An understanding of safeguarding

- Ability to be patient, sympathetic and remain calm in an emergency
