Re-use Shop Operative

As a shop operative you will be in charge of the daily running of our re-use shop, based at Brighouse HWRC, liaising with the re-use shop supervisor to make sure the shop is fully stocked and that everything is properly stored or made ready for sale.

This will involve you:

+ Merchandising stock, organising, preparing, pricing and presenting donations for sale, to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
+ Manage stock and communicate to the re-use shop supervisor what stock the shop needs delivering.
+ Operate the cash register, counting / reconciling cash and credit card receipts, processing returns and refunds
+ Ensure goods are sold at appropriate value and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately.
+ Maintain the security of the shop premises, stock and cash.

You will be passionate about the environment and in particular this re-use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.

Either you will have knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or willing to rapidly develop it, but you should have an understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising and the ability to handle financial aspects of retail, along with:

+ A flexible attitude to work as weekend work will be required.
+ Excellent teamwork skills as you will also work closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
+ Retail experience.
+ Minor repair skills.
