In this role, you'll ensure the effective operation of the Sewerage Network within a defined county, whilst delivering full compliance with all customer, regulatory and company standards. You'll proactively focus on the needs of our customers by delivering right first-time solutions and implementing initiatives aimed at improving outcome performance and serviceability of the sewerage network. You'll additionally ensure operational problems are dealt with effectively, in compliance with the contract and within a safe and cost-effective environment. As a Reactive Lead at Severn Trent, you'll take ownership of customer service issues and will build relationships with the Environment Agency (EA), Local Councils, Highway Authorities, and other external bodies to help facilitate the effective delivery of operational works, all whilst minimising the impact on our customers and the environment. This role will see you included on a regional standby rota which operates 24/7, 365 and may also include working across different regions when required. Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
- Leading and promoting a safe working environment to achieve Goal Zero, whilst ensuring all quality standards are met.
- Checking, approving, and promoting follow on work and working closely with contract partners and other teams to agree the nature and extent of complex repairs and other exceptional work items.
- Achieving the best commercial outcome from follow on work, together with assessing the impact to operational performance targets.
- Key coordination with Civils Planning and Scheduling teams.
- Managing and leading on incidents such as high-profile sewer collapses or burst rising mains, liaising with appropriate contract partners and Catchment Leads where applicable.
- Reviewing all inbound customer complaints and escalations and determining appropriate ownership. In addition, managing and processing any insurance claims and communicating with customers on key decisions.
We're seeking our Reactive Lead to be a real people person, with a customer centric approach to their thought processes and ways of working. To be successful in this role, it's expected that you'll have experience of working collaboratively with contract partners and teams across a large geographical area, as well as proven experience of building and developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders e.g., Customers, Environment Agency, Local Councils etc. You should possess the ability to work under pressure and with high work volumes, be able to proactively diagnose and solve problems that give a right first-time solution, have the capacity to articulate and interpret technical information and specifications and be adept at effectively communicating and negotiating to achieve desired outcomes. What would also be desirable is if you have knowledge and understanding of sewerage law and the operation, repair, and maintenance of gravity sewerage systems. It would be great if you have an understanding of sewerage flooding mechanisms and how they may be addressed, term service contracts and their application, and excellent budget awareness and experience of working within budgetary constraints.
