Peartree Surgery and West Horndon Surgery have an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on a full-time basis, for 37.5 hours per week.
There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Greeting and directing all patients.

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.

  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.

  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.

  • Advising patients of practice procedures.

  • Registering new patients.

  • Answering the telephone, promptly.

  • Inputting data onto patients records as necessary.

  • Maintain a clean, tidy and effective working area at all times.

  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.

We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service and have the following attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.

  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.

  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.

  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet".

  • Strong IT and administration skills.

  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

  • Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Peartree Surgery is a busy surgery in South Ockendon with a branch surgery in West Horndon, we are a rapidly expanding dispensing practice with around 7,700 patients across both surgeries.
