Full Job Description

  • Register/welcome new patients on arrival, ensuring all demographic and episode details are recorded on the patient administration system. Ensure identity bracelets are available for nursing staff. Compile sets of required blank documentation for emergency patients.
  • Receive/welcome visitors onto the department and inform the nurse in charge or the senior sister of any query they may have.
  • To use patient administration system and other Trust applications required to support the patient's pathway.
  • Arrange outpatient clinic appointments for patients where necessary. When appropriate arrange ambulance transport for patients.
  • Responsible for dealing with all queries, either via telephone or face to face promptly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for completion of general administration tasks, including filing, photocopying, faxing, fault reporting, completion of the admission/discharge book, GP and clinic letters, arrangement of patient follow up appointments, all case-note preparation for admissions, ensuring tests/investigations are correctly completed.
  • Takes responsibility to ensure on a daily basis all discharges are completed on the appropriate system in a timely fashion.
  • Administration support for Senior Nurses may be required.
  • Order and maintain the departments supplies as necessary and in accordance with Trust policies.

    Gynaecology Assessment Unit and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital have an exciting position which has become available. We are looking for a dynamic personality to come and join our team as a receptionist on the Gynaecology Assessment Unit.
  • This is a front facing role, you will have interactions between staff, patients and their relatives. We require a warm and friendly person to initially greet women when they first arrive to the department. The successful applicant will need to have experience dealing with the general public, they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. You will require strong communication skills as you will be providing an effective face to face/telephone reception service using verbal and written communication to liaise with patients, relatives, staff, wards/units, directorates and external agencies/people to support the delivery of an efficient patient service. You will be required to demonstrate sensitivity and discretion. The job role involves working Monday - Friday 08:30 - 1630
