Full Job Description

London Park School, Mayfair is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

To provide an efficient reception service for the school, dealing with all callers, both on the telephone and in person, promptly and courteously. To act as an administrative assistant providing support for a range of office functions. To provide First Aid cover to all students when needed including administering medication.

Main Duties:

· To answer incoming calls, both internal and external, redirecting/taking messages as necessary, and acting on instructions received. To relay messages to staff and pupils.

· To receive all visitors and ensure they sign in and out in accordance with the school's procedures.

· To deal with general day to day queries from staff, pupils, parents and other visitors to the school.

· To help ensure that the school reception area and displays are neat, tidy and clean showing the school at its very best at all times (this is a particular priority at open evenings/mornings and school functions).

· To word-process school documentation as requested.

· To assist with the preparation, distribution and collation of checklists for school meals numbers, and liaise with school catering staff on a daily basis.

· To record and post all outgoing mail, purchasing new stocks of stamps when required. To receive and distribute all incoming mail.

· To assist with the organisation of school trips, including booking coaches and venues.

· To assist with the maintenance of the attendance/absence register on the school's management information system (iSams).

· To assist with maintaining records of all pupils' changes of details e.g. addresses, telephone numbers.

· To undertake photocopying, filing and general office duties.

· To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.

· To continually promote and support the ethos and principles of the school and to avoid any action that may be detrimental or prejudicial to the interests of the school.

· To carry out the above duties in accordance with the School's Equal Opportunities Policy.

· To provide first-line medical assistance to students and staff.

· To be responsible for the delivery of assessment and treatment of minor illness and injuries.

· To deliver care within the boundaries of the role, focusing on student well-being and health education

· To identify, implement and evaluate individual health care plans for students with medical conditions.

· To prioritise health problems and intervening appropriately to complex, urgent or emergency situations, including the initiation of effective emergency care.

· To input and update student medical information on iSams.

· To monitor and evaluate care interventions.

· To deliver opportunistic health promotion as appropriate.

· To share appropriate information on students during transition from Key stages.

· To co-ordinate all government led immunisation programmes (and Staff influenza vaccinations).

· To help to identify, create and evaluate all medical and student wellbeing policies, communicating with all staff involved. (Medical Conditions, Drug use etc).

· To administer an Epi Pen injection when appropriate. This is to be in accordance with medical procedures and up to the level of the training received.

· When appropriate, to deliver appropriate medical staff training e.g. Anaphylaxis.

· To ensure teaching and support staff have appropriate awareness and understanding of the common medical conditions in the school.

· To co-ordinate all first aid staff training and maintenance of first aid equipment/stock.

· To maintain and supply first aid boxes for school events, e.g. Visits, Sport Days.

· To deliver all medical information and medical procedures to new staff members via the induction programme.

· To provide accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of student consultation and drug administration consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

· To liaise with pastoral team to identify areas of concern and referring vulnerable students to the appropriate agencies.

· To control storage and administration of medication.

· To maintain an Accident Book and appropriate records.
