Full Job Description

Our service has an exciting opportunity to join the Isle of Wight CAMHS (rated Good CQC) team as a Recruit to Train Trainee, training on the Children & Young People Mental Health (CYP-MH CYP IAPT) Therapy Course, part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Recruit to Train Programme in partnership with University of Reading. This is a 12 month fixed term post starting in Jan 2025., We are happy to talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process.

The post-holder will carry out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health practitioners to work and train within our service. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.

Prior to this interview, you must have completed a self-statement for JSA criterion 4. Please see the BABCP website for guidance and exemplars.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team of 30 clinicians who will all be keen to help and support you on your journey to accreditation., Relevant Honours Degree (e.g. psychology, mental health, etc.) graded at 2.2 or above

or

If a candidate has a core profession (see below) but does not have an Honours degree or has an award of 2.3 or below, they will be asked to provide evidence of successful study at Level 6 or equivalent and be required to pass a pre-entry essay, marked at Masters level prior to acceptance on the training programme.

Experience of working with children, young people and families

Completion of KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) portfolio prior to entry onto the programme (this will be inspected at interview and must be completed fully by the induction date; any offer to a KSA route student is on this condition being met).

For any candidates who have previously completed a low intensity training programme (CWP or PWP for example), two years of qualified practice (after graduation) are required before undertaking any high intensity training programme (e.g. CYP PT or CYP CBT).

To apply you for this role you must meet the criteria for CBT training and also have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or a related area. This means having a recognised core profession please see below list of core professions and refer to the BACP website (www.babcp.com):

Arts Therapists- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered

Counselling- Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA), OR Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals' National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate (FDAP NCAC).

Medicine- Psychiatrist or General Practitioner, MBChB or MBBS, and usually PG training with membership of MRCGP, MRCP or MRCPsych

Occupational Therapy- BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, MSc Occupational Therapy, OR Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists (DipCOT) and HCPC Registered

Psychotherapy/Psychotherapeutic Counselling- United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered

Registered Nurse- Mental Health (RMN), or Learning Disability

Social Work- Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), MA Social Work, or BA/BSc Hons Social Work. Registered with one of four UK regulators - Social Work England (SWE), Social Care Wales (SCW), Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)

Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology- accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and HCPC Registered as Practitioner Psychologist

Educational Psychology- Doctorate or Qualification in Educational Psychology Stage 2 (QEPS) - must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist

Health Psychology- Qualification in Health Psychology Stage 2 (QHP) -must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist

Forensic Psychology-Qualification in Forensic Psychology Stage 2 (QFP) -must have BPS Chartership (CPsychol) and HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist

Alternatively, if you do not have a core profession you must complete a portfolio of evidence to show that you have the equivalent training and experience.
