Full Job Description

As a result of investment in the People function, we have created a new post to enable YAS to meet its recruitment challenges with a more strategic approach. The Recruitment Lead will work within the People Directorate, and will provide strategic leadership to support recruitment across all areas of Yorkshire. The postholder will take the lead in developing and delivering new, innovative approaches to recruitment, ensuring inclusive practices, and delivering targeted campaigns, attracting applicants from a range of diverse backgrounds to ultimately make YAS an Employer of Choice as well as an Anchor organisation. The post holder will use their analytical and business expertise to understand and fill gaps in the workforce plan; they will support the development of new roles and explore alternative sources of recruitment, including international recruitment and using apprenticeships to support the reduction of our "hard to recruit" roles., The post holder will work with IT to support the digital transformation agenda within recruitment to increase efficiencies, reduce transactional processing time and using AI/robotics will support and fully evaluate the introduction of these mechanisms to provide assurance to management of reducing workforce risks. The delivery of high quality and professional advice to managers and staff ensuring compliance with all HR policies, procedures and standards and relevant employment legislation. Communicating with various forums regarding recruitment paths, identifying shortfalls and providing innovative solutions for resolution Analysing complex national terms and conditions and policies in relation to recruitment and resourcing, to ensure compliance but using these to gain an advantage to be able to meet our workforce plan and strategic aims. This requires implementing changes to organisational approaches to ensure we take advantage where possible. Establish a proactive approach to recruitment and resourcing activity, taking the strategic lead role for specific projects for recruitment. Line manage the recruitment function via the Recruitment Manager, including undertaking appraisals, sickness absence and performance management to ensure the post holder is managing an effective recruitment service, and providing management to the wider recruitment team, reaching their professional potential, including CPD.

The successful candidate will be an experienced recruitment specialist with experience of working in a large complex, ideally public sector organisation, who is educated to masters' level (or have equivalent experience). They will also have experience of managing teams and projects with a good understanding of issues relating to diversity and inclusion, including breaking down barriers to recruitment.
