Full Job Description

As Regional Administrator you'll support the Regional Manager and the underwriting team. But don't suppose you'll just be sitting in the corner doing the admin. Whilst you may be sorting out the diaries, booking in meetings or fixing the office printer, you'll also be arranging (and of course attending) broker events, keeping the team up to date on their performance statistics and responding to all manners of ad-hoc requests from the team - it's safe to say no two days will be the same. If you like having lots of responsibility then this could be the perfect role for you. You'll never be sat down for long, but you'll definitely be having fun along the way. What you'll be doing

  • You may not be an underwriter, but you'll get to understand how they work, providing support to the team, managing the diaries and organising broker visits
  • You'll act as PA to the Regional Manager and the Regional Underwriting Manager, coordinating their diaries and booking their travel up and down the country, meaning you'll have an expert understanding of the geography of the UK.
  • You'll be the go-to person for daily and monthly management information reports and share the inside knowledge on monthly broker performance
  • Processing expense claims and invoices means you'll be in the know about current spend versus the monthly budget
  • Sorting agency queries and changes. Liaising with UKSC on regular basis and completing forms to ensure completion in a timely manner.
  • You'll turn your hand to hospitality and marketing, coordinating exciting events to help build those broker relationships
  • You will be the perfect host - speaking to brokers on the phone, welcoming them to our offices, greeting them as they arrive at our events. You are (and will feel) part of the Midlands team, so it's important you are comfortable speaking to our brokers of all levels of seniority, making them feel valued and important, and helping deliver our superb service
  • Database management will become second nature as you set up agency applications, handle enquiries and update the Broker Management System
  • Arranging set up for new joiners, organising induction plan and any leavers to the region logged.
  • Setting up visits in the CRM programme correctly for team. Updating any notes from meeting and completing ahead of monthly UK report.
  • You'll set up ad-hoc and re-occurring meetings for the Regional Manager, Regional Underwriting Manager and the team. Including locating additional meeting rooms in other regions and setting up VCs. Conferencing facilities may also be required from time to time.
  • You will manage all the practical day-to-day aspects of running the office on behalf of the wider team - from managing the milk/fruit order, ordering stationery, managing the post/deliveries to assisting with the office business continuity plan and sorting out local IT issues (with the support of IT!)

Willingness to work hard and adapt to different ways of doing things whilst staying calm, cool and collected under pressure
  • The ability to get on with others and do everything with a smile on your face
  • Experience dealing with team administration within a fast-paced, professional environment (insurance industry experience is not a prerequisite)
  • Brilliant communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with a range of busy people, both inside and outside the business
  • Solid data analysis skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to use your own initiative to solve problems
  • Flexibility to prioritise and organise your workload and adapt to different personalities and changing priorities at short notice
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes
  • Diversity and Hybrid working

At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we're committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success. We have also learned over the past few years that working life doesn't always have to be in the office, and now it is safe to do so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance. We anticipate the successful candidate for this role will be in the office up to 2 days per week in either the Birmingham or Colchester office. This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
