As part of Finance, Global Treasury protects, optimises and enhances HSBC's financial resources. The Treasury Regulation, Strategy and Controls team is a global team, responsible for the following for Global Treasury:

  • Corporate Governance, organisational strategy and management communication

  • Strategic Analysis and Commercial Insights

  • Regulatory strategy, submissions and engagement

  • Policy horizon scanning, advisory and impact assessment

  • Sustainability strategy and approach

  • Global Treasury Controls framework and non-financial risk management


  • We are currently seeking an individual to join the Treasury Regulation, Strategy and Controls team as Head of Treasury Regulation and Strategy and Controls, EMEA. This regional role will be responsible for the remit of the team in EMEA, reporting functionally into the Global Head of Treasury Regulation, Strategy and Controls and into the Regional Treasurer from an entity perspective.,
  • Lead cross-Treasury activity within the region to identify and assess strategic and commercial opportunities/ risks in partnership with Capital, Liquidity, Recovery & Resolution Planning, Markets Treasury and other specialist disciplines within Global Treasury as well as broader stakeholders.

  • Monitor and analyse regional regulatory trends, rules and guidance to proactively identify impacts and implications, and execute a coherent engagement strategy with key regulators.

  • Provide proactive expert regional insight and analysis including peer analysis and associated commercial insights, external trends and developments, to relevant stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify impacts and implications for the region and work closely with the global team to shape a global view.

  • Provide oversight of local Treasury governance, ensuring that good governance supports Treasury decision making and connectivity within the group.

  • Ensure the business continues to operate to the highest levels of Operational, Conduct, Governance and Accountability standards.

    Strong understanding of activities undertaken by Treasury in a global bank, deep knowledge in at least one discipline would be advantageous.

  • Ability to assess trends, opportunities, and challenges (quantitative and qualitative) and develop solutions with a range of stakeholders.

  • Advanced understanding of regulatory and supervisory practices and how these can shape HSBC's commercial decisions and financial resources.

  • Excellent communicator with senior leaders, and track record of being able to simplify and communicate complex subjects.

  • Undaunted by broad remits and changing scope, and able to navigate in these circumstances.
