Full Job Description

We are seeking a confident and experienced Health and Safety Manager who has overseen multi-site operations to support our facilities management teams who are spread across the South West and South Central in 16 prison sites.

Join a team that is more than just a group of colleagues - we work Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment.

Prisons run like self-contained cities, it takes hundreds of people to keep them functioning, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed and driving the smooth and safe operation, like a heart that pumps blood through the body; everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, and visitor, and wider to the families and community.

As a Regional Health and Safety Manager, your work will support site-based teams of experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.
This role requires a proactive Health and Safety Manager to partner with regional operations teams, driving improvements in risk management and promoting a positive health and safety culture. You will provide leadership, coaching, and support for Health and Safety Coordinators, implement policies, lead investigations, and ensure continuous improvement. Extensive travel to operational sites is necessary to foster a one-team approach and share best practices across the business.

If you are looking for a role where you can use your skills to create a better future for others, we encourage you to apply for this compelling opportunity and join us in our mission to promote rehabilitation and positive change and be part of a team that truly makes a difference.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Regional Health and Safety Manager who

Holds a NEBOSH Certificate

- Ideally also either holds or is working towards NEBOSH Diploma

- Has a methodical, organised approach to work with good attention to detail

- Is a strong communicator who can tailor their messages depending on audience

- Is resilient and confident in their knowledge and can share this with others
