Full Job Description

Being a Nurse at Marie Curie is incredibly rewarding on so many levels. For starters, we offer you high staffing ratios, which means less time on paperwork and more time with patients. As a Marie Curie Nurse, you will provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group in a palliative care setting, helping people to live their final days with dignity.

You'll be part of a supportive team that truly cares about you and your development. Using a patient-centred approach and evidenced based practice, assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and co-ordinate care from admission to discharge. You will be expected to administer medication and treatment as prescribed in accordance with the NMC's and the Charity's policies and guidelines. You will also provide emotional, psychological and spiritual support for patients and carers.

We will consider applications from newly qualified nurses with a genuine passion for end-of-life care and a foundation of skills and experience that could potentially be supported into the role.

We encourage candidates to arrange an informal visit to the hospice to come and experience the welcoming atmosphere, high standards of care and compassionate, yet positive environment Marie Curie hospices promote.

  • RGN Registration Level 1

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of palliative care and the needs of patients with complex symptoms as well as at end of life

  • Forward thinking with excellent communication skills

  • Welsh speaking is desirable but not essential
