Full Job Description

An exiting opportunity has arisen for a part time Registered Nurse to work in the busy main Outpatients 2 at Neath Port Talbot Hospital.

The role of the registered nurse in Outpatients is to oversee the running of the various clinics held in the department, these include, ENT, Opthalmology, general medicine, orthopaedic, spinal, general surgery and cardiology.

The role requires the registered nurse to work closely with Consultants and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the smooth running of clinics and to supervise other team members such as HCSW's and student nurses.

The role requires the registered nurse to act as an advocate for the patient during their visit and to carry out various clinical tasks such as dressings, visual acuity and OCT pictures on eye clinic and the administration of medications such as eye drops and injections for various clinics.

The successful candidate will be required to mentor students and new staff members and to take charge of the department in the absence of managers., A Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Department is responsible for overseeing the running of all clinics and supervising clinic staff, mentoring students and assisting the Outpatient Sisters in the general running of the department.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
