The general band 5 duties include working within all the catheter lab areas, including a competency pathway to learn to scrub and assist in procedures after 12 month appointment; this provides an interesting and varied work life with ample scope for personal and career development. The role involves working as part of the multidisciplinary team providing care pre peri and post procedure. The department also works closely with cardiology directorate areas but also has strong connections to theatres, administration support, AMU A and B, vascular Angiography, main X ray and ED. The candidate must be available for On call service on a rota basis. The role involves dexterous tasks, working in uncomfortable surroundings at times wearing heavy lead PPE and within darkened rooms. The service is very flexible to the needs of the patients and of the directorate, therefore the candidate must be caring compassionate and flexible.Working for our organisation At East Lancashire hospitals we are able to offer patient's state of the art technologies with a managed service partnership. We offer a wide range of diagnostic procedures and cardiac interventions for inpatients and outpatient's, some of which range from simple diagnostic angiograms and ILR implants to complex angioplasty, and specialist pacemaker implantation. We have a good position on the hospital foot print located on level 2 above the main entrance and within the general theatre. The cardiac catheter lab team has a good reputation and feedback from patient's and students is excellent. We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic individual that is able to deliver a high standard of nursing care to join our friendly, dynamic and committed team. environment., Planning, delivering, evaluating and reporting of care for an allocated group of patients receiving cardiac diagnostics and interventions Demonstrate knowledge of the cardiac system & understand about conditions which affect the heart; after undertaking the necessary training. Maintaining professional developments according to the Knowledge & Skills framework, and NMC requirements.

The Cardiac Cath Lab is looking to attract nurses with cardiology experience who would like to develop their skills within a specialist environment . The cardiac Catheter Laboratory is a busy and ever developing department that provides cardiac service to East Lancashire patients and beyond. The service includes two cardiac laboratories, cardiac day case and pre-operative assessment. The role involves working closely with the MDT but equally independently within a pre operative situation, therefore the candidate must communicate well, work cohesively but also able to work with initiative,

  • Registered 1st Level or equivalent as verified by the NMC
  • Registered with NMC
  • GCSE Maths, English and science grade C and above or equivalent.
  • Desirable criteria
  • knowledge of current research applicable to the post's specialist area, Able to manage the care for a group of people and prioritise workload with minimal super- vision., Cardiology Nursing experience, Able to communicate effectively to patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to write basic reports.
  • Able to train less qualified carers/learners.
  • Be proficient at calculating medication doses.
  • Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuous development., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
