Full Job Description

Provide optimum quality of care to critically ill patients, offering support to the multi-professional team. Will take management responsibility for an identified area on regular shifts.
You must have the ability to create and sustain a culture of positivity, where staff are supported & developed. You will work closely with the Matron and the senior nursing team to support excellence in the department.

Please apply for this job as soon as you can, if interested., We are looking for experienced Critical Care Practitioners at Band 5 to join our team. We have 30 critical care beds on the General Critical Care Unit and 22 beds on the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit. Our Critical Care services offer a broad experience in caring for critically ill adults in an innovative, challenging and aspirational workplace. We are committed to advancing nursing practice and our Clinical Nurse Training and Development team provide in-house training and support for Clinical and Professional development.
We have opportunities to work within both our General Critical Care Unit and Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit as Band 5 Registered Practitioner.
Within Critical Care you will gain valuable experience in the care of patients with a wide range of needs including Trauma, complex Medical and Surgical patients such as, Haematology, GI Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Renal Medicine/Transplant surgery and Head and Neck Surgery., Our Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit cares for patients requiring cardiology intervention, elective and emergency cardiac surgery as well as patients requiring elective thoracic surgery and those with thoracic trauma
We are looking for dynamic, focused, strong and flexible Nurses to join our Critical Care team to support in continually improving the care we provide our patients with and make positive changes to the unit to meet the demands of the service.
We are seeking applicants for Band 5 posts from Registered Nurses to join our motivated, friendly and supportive team. If successful, you will be fully supported in your new role both through mentorship from our experienced team and through our Critical Care Training and Development Team. Competencies will be provided to support your development. Once completed, and you are established within your role there are further opportunities for professional development.

+ Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur.
+ A competent practitioner, teaching, assessing and supervising/providing mentorship to appropriate students or junior staff.
+ Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving patients and users.
+ Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities to support patient care pathways.
+ Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including; patient observations; equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
+ Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
+ Manage expected (and occasional unexpected) clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need, referring to a senior member of staff where appropriate e.g. in an unexpected event.
+ Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
