Registered Nurse - Surgical Assessment Unit

Do you have a keen interest in surgical emergency care? We are looking for a registered nurse to come and join our Surgical Assessment Unit. The unit accepts patient referral from GP, walk in clinic, WMAS, emergency department and other units for surgical specialities such as general surgery, urology, vascular, ENT and maxfax. We welcome applications from those who are enthusiastic and passionate about delivering first class care. Attention to detail and excellent time management qualities are essential. Informal discussions and visits are welcomed. Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. • Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
• Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur.
• A competent practitioner, teaching, assessing and supervising/providing mentorship appropriate students or junior staff.
• Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving patients and users.
• Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities to support patient care pathways.
• Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including; patient observations; equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
