Full Job Description

Are you a registered nursing looking to work within a new team and learn new skills? Then the surgical hub could be for you!

Following a successful bid for Government funding last summer, building works are underway for completion of the all-new Surgical, Diagnostic and Treatment Hub at Dewsbury and District Hospital.

The build will provide 2 theatres for day case operating under general anaesthetic, 4 major treatment rooms for minor operations under local anaesthetic, and 10 outpatient clinic rooms for assessment and diagnosis of patients.

The hub will focus on the provision of high volume, low complexity procedures only, from within the following surgical specialties Plastics, OMFS, Gynaecology, Pain Management, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal, General surgery and Upper GI.

The development of this new, elective care hub promises a number of key benefits to both staff and patients alike. Such benefits include the ability to provide increased access to healthcare services improving overall experience, increased staff wellbeing, training and development opportunities.

The hub is scheduled for completion in by the end of 2024, with elective activity commencing soon afterwards in early 2025. A full training package and induction will be provided to successful candidates

The successful candidates will need to be participate in the development and delivery of a of a brand service working with a new team. They must demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, adapt to change and new ways of working.

Candidates must have the ability to relate to all staff and patients in a confident manner, demonstrate good listening skills and be able to work effectively as part of team. They must be able to create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships. Candidates must be committed to embedding the trust values to create a positive culture in the working environment.

The successful candidate must maintaining an awareness of national and regional initiatives, such as getting it right first time, they must have an understanding of working under pressure, which high volume low complexity patients, and be able to prioritise patient flow through the department without compromising patient safety.

Successful candidates will be expected to undertake individual performance reviews as part of their own learning and development needs and to ensure the needs of the service and personal development needs are being met.

The successful candidates will be expected to be flexible, and work within all areas of the surgical hub after training has been provided, including; admissions, outpatient clinics, major treatment rooms, recovery and discharge.
