Full Job Description

We are looking for Registered Nursing Associates to work within Chailey Clinical Services, supporting children and young people with complex and fluctuating healthcare needs.

Nursing Associates will be based as an employee within Chailey Clinical Services supporting and delivering a mixture of general and specific high quality, skilled care to children and young people (CYP) either in the school and residential bungalow settings or the short breaks team.

The post holder will become competent and proficient in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to their area of clinical practice. The Nursing Associate will be supervised by a Registered Nurse of band 5 or above.

The Residential Nursing Service (RSNT) provide medical support to the residents and pupils at the Chailey Heritage Foundation (CHF) who have complex and fluctuating health needs. They support the school in its delivery of education through teaching and advising the CHF education and care staff in how to support a child with their learning and medical needs.

Bluebells provide short breaks to CYP which are pre-booked, but can also on occasion provide support for emergency placements., 1. The Nursing Associate will deliver care within their proven competency as achieved during their Nursing Associate Training.
2. Recognise changes in a patient's condition and seeks assistance from a Registered Nurse of band 5 or above and/or Paediatric consultant or GP, as appropriate.
3. Contribute to the planning, implementation and monitoring of patient care as part of the Chailey Clinical Services Nursing Teams.
4. Using recognised assessment tools including PEWS, NEWS2, MUST and Purpose T to risk assess, record and act upon patients' changing conditions.
5. Treat and monitor patients under the leadership and direction of a registered nurse of band 5 or above.
6. Monitor individualised care plan.
7. Plan and implement non-complex tasks and interventions guided by standard operating procedures and competency achievement.
8. Contribute to patient review, care planning and delivery of care for End of Life patients.
9. Provide support, training and supervision to others.
10. Maintain clear concise and legible documentation adhering to standards in accordance with NMC and Trust policies.

Chailey Clinical Services offers a range of interventions to children and young adults across the range of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by the Practice Development Nurses to further develop your career and to learn skills and competencies.

We are located in the beautiful Sussex countryside at the foot of the South Downs about 30 mins drive from Brighton with the nearest mainline railway station at Haywards Heath. There is ample on-site parking; a caf offering home style food with a daily changing menu; lots of outdoor space for outdoor activities and relaxing during a break; and a Children's Farm attached to the co-located Chailey Heritage Foundation.
