Full Job Description

The National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) is part of NHS England Transformation Directorate, Data and Analytics. In partnership with other teams and groups within NHS England and beyond we provide the expertise to identify, collect, collate and quality-assure detailed and rich population-level datasets for specific diseases and conditions. As a Registration Officer for the National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service (NCARDRS), you will need to have, or be prepared to acquire, a detailed working knowledge of congenital anomalies and rare diseases in order to support the local and national team in driving the timely delivery of Disease Registration objectives in line with coding, best practice and operational objectives. What's involved:

  • You will need to acquire and maintain detailed knowledge of the current principles and procedures of congenital anomaly and rare disease registration, and the UK and European framework within which the national Register operates.
  • You will clinically code and validate data from notifiers (mostly obstetric, neonatal, paediatric, and laboratory), processing records and interrogating data from electronic systems. Raise and follow up queries with data notifiers to ensure that clinical information is complete, liaising with clinical and clerical staff at all levels.
  • You will conduct longer-term data follow up to enhance completeness of records and include more outcome information.

  • Delivering value for money., NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher.   • The role will include:
  • Entering data into an electronic system and ensure that an up-to-date tracking system of all reported cases is established and maintained.
  • Critically examining data for error or possible duplication.
  • Cross-checking data received for verification and completeness, and match data with other sources.
  • Acquire and maintaining knowledge to access hospital patient administration systems.
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of data received. This will include liaising with appropriate organisations and departments for missing reports/data and producing feedback.
  • Employing good administrative routines to support data processing, including filing and scanning forms/records, and establishing data storage systems.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of all communications and data handled, adhering to the Register's policies and procedures for Information Governance.
  • Attending training as required, including attendance at national study days and regional training sessions.
