Full Job Description

  • Follow, review and provide briefings on key regulatory developments affecting our existing business, development projects and growth plans e.g., wholesale market, balancing market, capacity market and grid connection topics

  • Review and advise the UK team on Ofgem reports and related activity and positions

  • Attend Energy UK and other trade association meetings and industry meetings with the regulator and system operator as required, and represent Uniper's business interests based on our defined positions

  • Prepare written responses to relevant industry and regulatory consultations

  • Support and co-ordinate meetings with Ofgem, government officials, the system operator and other bodies as appropriate, supporting the Head of UK Regulatory Management and working together with the Energy Policy and Regulation team members

  • Liaise with the business and where required the legal team to understand regulations and market rules as applied to our operations

  • Fully aware of key compliance components, such as competition law and REMIT

    Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant subject such as economics or law

  • Demonstrable understanding of compliance with relevant competition law and market transparency principles

  • Ability to develop effective lines of argument and communicate these convincingly, orally and in writing, to government, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand and factor in Uniper's overall strategy and business goals in developing consultation responses

  • Proven written communication skills

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex data and regulations and pull out the key points relevant to our business

  • Able to work on own initiative with little or no direction

  • Influencing skills, able to attend external meetings and represent Uniper's positions setting out credible, clear arguments

  • Good knowledge and understanding of the commercial environment, regulatory and energy policy framework affecting Uniper's business

  • Experience of having worked in an international corporate environment, with some knowledge of the EU - UK market interactions
