Full Job Description

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a huge strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customer and our country. ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world. and BT is proud to the official supplier providing mission critical and trusted communications for Britain's Emergency Services. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and building upon on EE's existing 4G network and to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users. Mobile Innovation Labs is a dynamic environment that supports the testing and validation of BT's mobile products and services. As mobile technology evolves, release management has become essential to lab operations, involving the planning and coordination of software releases for project delivery, lab maintenance, and live deployments. A Release Manager oversees the entire release management lifecycle, including scheduling, coordination, and management of releases across multiple applications, vendor platforms, and portfolios. Close collaboration with key stakeholders and customers ensures that ESN lab environments are delivered on time, fit for purpose, and reflective of live conditions. The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).What you'll be doing

  • Own and be accountable for agreed Release strategy within Technology Labs.
  • Define release milestones and establish clear timelines to meet project deadlines ensuring alignment with project deliverables.
  • Manage the release process, coordinating the deployment of software updates and new features.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement contingency plans to mitigate potential release issues.
  • Work with the Labs Environment managers to control scope and prevent unauthorized changes during release cycles.
  • Maintain version control and documentation of changes throughout the release cycle.

  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Working knowledge & full understanding of project frameworks, methodologies and standards.
  • Aware of risk management methodologies, including the identification, assessment and management of environment delivery risks.
  • Professional Project Management qualification e.g. Prince 2, Agile.
  • Nice to have - Technical understanding and working knowledge of Mobile technologies i.e 4G, 5G NSA and 5G SA.
