Full Job Description

We are looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and facilitate the delivery of Agile Release Train's (ART) within the Digital Product portfolio as we transition to and implement SAFe. This is a delivery role, a key element of which involves setting the standards for Agile delivery excellence aligned to the SAFe framework. You will be acting as a visible leader in our journey to SAFe with an emphasis on providing the support needed by the teams, ARTs, and Solution Trains to be self-organizing and self-managing.

What You'll Do:

  • You will be involved with leading and facilitating the relevant planning and delivery events that enable the ART to be successful. You will look to continuously


  • Improve and optimise the performance of the ART processes and to assist the teams in delivering value alongside Product Manager and System Engineer.


  • Owning relevant (up to exec level) stakeholder relationships and communicate, escalate, and manage impediments to the delivery of the ART to support the management of risk and drive continuous improvements.


  • Work with Product, Digital Engineering teams and other stakeholders to help continuously improve the Digital delivery process/value streams through leading improvement initiatives associated with end-to-end delivery including DevOps within the Delivery Pipeline.


  • Track and produce key metrics (e.g. burn-down, burn-up charts, own the KPIs for the specified ART reporting where decisions will impact our ability to achieve the targets owning risks and issues and regular management reporting for the specified ART.


  • Maintain visibility of the budget associated with the ART and support Lean budgeting processes to enable the ART to deliver value within PI increments.


  • Facilitate the creation of best in class / centre of excellence for Agile Delivery through championing and enabling a continuous learning culture and an environment in which our people can thrive and have the psychological safety lead our transformation. Collaborate with the communities of practice, develop, and conduct Agile-oriented training and development of our people.

    Experience leading ARTs with a clear understanding of what is required to setup, manage and deliver high performing delivery teams


  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to articulate complex issues simply and with impact.


  • A servant leader with the ability to coach and support and enable the delivery of value through creating a culture of continuous improvement and customer outcome delivery.


  • Deep experience of SAFe tools and techniques (i.e.: PI planning; Agile delivery methods; DevOps ; JIRA / Azzure DevOps/ Confluence)
