Full Job Description

Reporting to the site Asset Care Manager, the role has primary responsibility for the completion of planned, Condition Based and Reliability centred maintenance techniques across the site, integrating as part of the site Asset care plan, utilising the company Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), SAP. This role is part of the Engineering Team developing and actioning appropriate Maintenance plans, uploading the detail into SAP and monitor performance. As a part of the Engineering function, the role works with the site to strive to achieve optimal operational efficiency at the lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function:

  • People, The role works closely with the Engineering Team Leaders, Manufacturing Operations and Production Planning, to ensure the delivery of both the production plan and the planned maintenance activity. In doing so they ensure their site is working to attain optimum efficiencies, effectiveness and profitability, initiating and implementing change as appropriate to meet the needs of the business.

  • Undertake duties in a responsible manner giving due consideration to Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures, which form part of the Integrated Management System.
  • Ensure work undertaken conforms to all requirements
  • Embrace a culture of safe behaviour and contractor health and safety within the production and engineering areas
  • Support a culture enhancing behavioural awareness to reduce accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Asset Care Management and Reliability Engineering
  • Work with the Asset Care Manager and other members of the Engineering team as appropriate action effective plans for the site.
  • Use Condition Based monitoring techniques as part of a proactive Asset Care Management strategy. i.e. JIPM
  • Develop the Reliability centred maintenance techniques as part of a proactive Asset Care Management strategy i.e. JIPM
  • Use of key measures such as Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) with the overall objective of improving Equipment Performance Efficiency as part of site OEE.
  • Support the efficient and effective delivery of asset care plans, implementing a standard approach with the drive to ensure effective use of the CMMS, namely SAP across the site
  • Maintain engineering standards etc. within group supply operations ensuring that substandard performance is identified and remedied.
  • Understand the site services KPI framework to drive performance standards of Water, Air, Gas, Electricity and Steam. Where a situation with new machine technology arises maximize the energy and environmental efficiency opportunities within current technological boundaries.
  • Communication
  • Work closely with support functions (HR, H&S, Manufacturing, Technical, Logistics and Finance)
  • Support the Planner in the daily communication with Engineering, Manufacturing and Planning to ensure asset care plans for the site are executed as scheduled.
  • Communicate daily with engineering, manufacturing and planning to ensure asset care schedules take into account production priorities and considerations
  • General Responsibilities

  • The incumbent should demonstrate behaviours which are in line with the site values & help to improve the Quality, Safety & Environmental culture.

  • A time served apprentice completed within manufacturing industry.
  • Strong grounding and understanding of advanced Asset Management techniques such as CBM and RCM.
  • Strong operational grounding within a complex fast moving manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing environments / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Good practical understanding of factory services (electricity, steam, compressed air, water etc.)

  • Interpersonal skills. Have the ability to quickly establish good relationships both internally, with people at all levels of an organisation, and externally, with customers and contractors. Be able to leverage this to inspire others to identify and own change.
  • The ability to put forward robust proposals in an open and honest environment, embracing and involving people across the whole business.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships across other business teams and functions in order to ensure effective communication at all levels without using complex jargon.
  • Understand the strategic business requirements of the Group Supply strategy and transpose that through the asset care philosophy.
  • Creative problem solver, able to analyse problems and opportunities and determine the most appropriate course of action, ensuring project schedules are maintained to meet strategic businesses requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of organisation in order to effectively and efficiently plan and organise the information and resource needed to deliver world class asset management across the site.
  • Significant levels of computer literacy, particular in relation to CCMS and preferably SAP PM.
