Full Job Description

As a Housing and Resettlement worker, you will report to the Deputy and/or Service Manager. You will carry out supported housing management duties within your role, providing professionalism, customer service, and a responsive service. You will maintain social contact and company with the residents to help enhance quality of life, enhance personal safety, health and security, sustainment of tenancy, and improve their financial independence. Work Pattern: Flexible Shifts - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm ABOUT THE SERVICE Our residential houses in Bedford are commissioned by Bedford Borough Council to deliver housing related support services for people with mental health problems. The aim of our service is to provide a short term service to enable clients to recover, stabilise and manage their mental health, develop or rebuild their independent living skills, engage with other key services within the locality and access suitable intermediate or long term housing. Our properties offer a safe, peaceful and supportive living environment for individuals wanting to engage with support to increase their levels of independence. Our support programme is led by the individual and co-ordinated with support staff and external agencies. We work with our Service Users to create personalised support plans using the Recovery Star system and record and measure

  • Act as a key support worker, supporting residents in various activities, this may include; support plans, creating smart objectives, leading events and activities, and other support tasks.
  • Be involved in, and encourage participation in projects, social enterprise initiatives, training, volunteering and/or work experience.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and information, as well as life skills training to residents.
  • Carry out regular occupancy checks of the property.
  • Support with managing health and safety, maintenance, rent collection for the property.
  • Tenancy management will include all areas from signing new residents up, signing agreements, inductions, and general living support.
  • Admin and other duties will vary.
  • Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.

Someone who is confident working in the sector, and ideally has worked in a similar environment although this is not essential. We're looking for someone who is willing to be open to new challenges, use their own initiative to resolve problems, and think outside the box to support the residents we work with. The person we hire will respect all aspects of EDI, and be compassionate, supportive, and empowering to others.,
  • Experience working with people of complex backgrounds, this can include ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours, or you will have a good understanding of the sector and the needs required.
  • IT proficiency; ability to learn new software, have basic Microsoft knowledge and experience.
  • What we would like, but not essential:
  • Previous sector/industry experience.
  • Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in health and social care, community justice, or professional relevant equivalent.
  • Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professionals.
  • Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role.
