This is an exciting opportunity to join Mitie working on the Sainsbury's contract in a key role.

Location: This is a remote role

Job objectives and responsibilities

Reporting to the Business Analytics Manager, the Financial Billing Controller will be an integral part of the support structure, within the Sainsbury's Argos account.

As part of the Business Analytics team your main responsibilities are:

  • High level financial analysis to identify efficiencies and cost savings.

  • The building of annual; and ad-hoc budgeting and forecasting.

  • Creating detailed analysis of all financial areas, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions.

  • Creating reports on a weekly and periodic basis for the key stakeholders.


  • Main Duties

    To deliver results for their identified area that meets or exceeds the budget and service delivery requirements through full responsibility and accountability for:
  • Prepare & deliver customer billing reports accurately and within the required timeframes, as well as monitor cash collection and identify any efficiencies that can be made.

  • Analyse tangible data and deliver financial performance reports, and relevant recommendations, in order to maximise profitability on the contract.

  • Delivery of weekly and monthly customer reports.

  • Regularly engage with senior operations managers to ensure the accuracy of reporting and to drive cost efficiencies.

  • Full ownership and management of end-to-end billing processes, both internally and externally to make sure that SLA's and objectives are fully met.

  • Periodic analysis of revenue and costs across multiple service lines, as well as delivery of insights, to provide efficiencies to the contract.

  • Regular participation in internal finance reviews.

  • Be a point of contact for any customer pricing and billing enquiries and provide any data or analysis required.

  • Analysis of trending patterns to better account for upcoming costing and P&L issues and provide potential mitigations.

  • Delivery of time critical tasks as directed by the client and contracts senior management team.

  • Complete ad-hoc projects as designated by the Business Analytics Manager, or the client, on time and to the required high standard.


  • As part of the wider team, you will be a point of contact and escalation for all Finance and Commercial requests from the strategic & operational teams as well as the customer network. You'll have previous experience within a similar role and be confident working in a fast paced, varied environment, putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.

  • Experience working in a similar role

  • Use of Microsoft Excel at an intermediate/advanced level

  • Experience working with and analysing large data sets

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate appropriately and manage expectations effectively

  • Effective team player with strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving services business

  • Adaptable communication style to meet the needs of different people groups

  • Excellent organisation, time and self-management skills
