Full Job Description

The successful candidate would be responsible for conducting the necessary simulations for the proposed concepts to examine their performance and effectiveness. They will work closely with the principal investigator and co-investigators to ensure project deliverables and milestones are met in a timely manner, and assist in the dissimilation and outreach activity by providing suitable material to the project website and other media.

Ideal candidates should hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, with demonstrable experience in conducting research at the postgraduate level in subjects of Artificial Intelligence or closely related areas. They need to have an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of AI and data-driven modelling of systems, and demonstrated experience in programming and optimisation.

This appointment is for a research assistant to work on the EnnAIble project (ZEro Emission RaNge ExteNder AI Controlled for HyBrid PropuLsion SystEm). Funded by InnovateUK the project aims to explore the potential of AI-controlled propulsion systems for hybrid electric aircraft.

The project will be a collaboration between Nex Power (seeking to adopt AI to address a business challenge or opportunity) and the research group within City St George's that can develop AI to help address this opportunity.
