Full Job Description

The Research & Development department have a fixed term or secondment opportunity for a 0.5 WTE motivated and interested Band 5 Research Assistant to support the delivery of a research study within the Trust and its partner organisations, including Teesside University. The post is funded by an NIHR Team Science grant, and this is funded for 12 months starting in December 2024., The successful applicant will work closely with the joint Chief Investigators, the LEAN Team members, and the Trust's R&D department staff. They will also work with two learning disability theatre groups in the North East, who will assist with developing the LEAN intervention. The researcher will be based at Flatts Centre, Middlesbrough but will need to work and liaise with sites across the whole of the North East. Willingness and ability to travel is therefore a necessary part of this role., The post-holder will work on the NIHR Team Science award entitled "Developing an NHS, University, Voluntary and Community Sector Team to develop a Lifestyle Energy Activity and Nutrition (LEAN) programme". The post primarily involves undertaking the day-to-day tasks of the award such as ethical and other approvals, undertaking a scoping review, management of meetings, minutes, report writing, dissemination tasks and communication between team members. They will also need to maintain the study database; ensuring entries are complete, accurate and up to date. The research assistant will assist in maintaining study records in accordance with the protocol and the principles of Good Clinical Practice.

The successful applicant will be a researcher with aclinically related degree (AHP, Psychology, Nursing or equivalent). Candidates will have experience taking part in research and working with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions. Candidates must also have excellent interpersonal, oral, organisational and written communication skills.
