Full Job Description
The successful candidate would be responsible for conducting the simulations for the proposed system including optimisation of the system based on the thermodynamic analysis. They will work closely with the principal investigator and co-investigators to ensure project deliverables and milestones are met in a timely manner and assist in the dissimilation and outreach activity by providing suitable material to the project website and other media.
Ideal candidates should hold an MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with demonstratable experience in conducting research at the postgraduate level in subjects of energy systems or closely related areas. They need to have an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of energy engineering and thermodynamic analysis, an understanding of analysis and modelling approaches and desirably experience in programming, optimization and turbomachinery design.

This appointment is for a research assistant to work on the RESORCS project (Off-Grid Renewable Energy Production and Storage with Organic Rankine Cycle, Solar and Waste). Funded by InnovateUK the project aims at the demonstration of a novel energy solution for developing countries.
The project is to be carried out by university and industry partners in the UK and Sri Lanka and involves technical innovation, system design, proof of concept, laboratory testing and technology demonstration in the target country.
