Full Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and ambitious postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Dr Adam Wilkinson. The Wilkinson Group is relocating from the University of Oxford to join the University of Cambridge and will the Department of Haematology and Cambridge Stem Cell Institute where the Research Associate will be based. Our group's research focusses on expanding and manipulating haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) ex vivo. We have pioneered highly influential new methods to expand transplantable HSCs long-term ex vivo (Wilkinson et al, Nature, 2019; Igarashi et al, Blood Advances, 2023; Sakurai et al, Nature, 2023) which are now in use worldwide. We have also demonstrated the consequences of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing on functional HSCs in autologous transplant models (Wilkinson et al, Nature Communications, 2021; Becker et al, Cell Stem Cell, 2023). Our group has significant funding from the Krishnan-Ang Foundation and Dr Wilkinson has recently been awarded a Wellcome
Trust Career Development Award.

You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and at least one first author primary research paper relevant to this post. You will hold a Home Office Personal Licence or equivalent. You will have extensive knowledge of HSC biology and significant experience of working with HSCs. A strong interest in epigenetics, ageing and transformation is desirable. Familiarity with the ex vivo HSC expansion method developed by Dr Wilkinson would be a distinct advantage. Experience of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and screening, and molecular assays (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq) is required.
