Full Job Description
Royce is seeking a Research and Business Engagement (RBE) Officer to work as a part of an integrated team to proactively identify, approach and engage with companies, Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and other research-focused organisations to help advance Advanced Materials research and innovation and to win business through collaborations. The post holder will play a pivotal role in contributing to the strategic development, management and delivery of research and business engagement activities including establishing and coordinating national Research Core Area community networks, building and supporting a diverse range of research communities, encouraging inter-disciplinary working across traditional boundaries and identifying and delivering facilities access models for business across the UK. Knowledge of the materials evaluation of materials in demanding environment (e.g. corrosion, fatigue..), imaging and characterisation and/or materials modelling and simulation sector would be extremely beneficial. This is a key role within Royce that requires a highly motivated individual with significant experience of working within a Higher Education Institution or similar organisational environment and a strong commercial acumen to support translation and commercialisation of academic research. The post holder will contribute significantly to the Royce research and innovation activities including the development and response to strategic industrial collaborative funding opportunities; facilitating collaborative links and interactions within the Royce partnership and with external industry partners and external funding agencies. The post holder will be exposed to a breadth of world-class research, the opportunity to work with some of the leading academics in advanced materials research as well as working alongside major global industrial companies. They will have excellent analytical skills and will be a strategic thinker to contribute to the development and implementation of Royce's
Research and Innovation strategy. Excellent communication skills are also essential to establish effective relationships and build a network of relevant contacts across the Royce partnership, including academics and Professional Services (PS) colleagues.
