Are you interested in an exciting and unique opportunity to support the UK's HPC and AI Research Infrastructure? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team operating large HPC and AI infrastructure including the UK's fastest AI supercomputer, Dawn. We support scientists across the UK in critical research fields such as clean energy, personalised medicine and climate science and you will help us in delivering world class services.

Who you'll be working with

The role is based in Research Computing Services, a leading UK National Supercomputing Centre, providing facilities and services to world-renowned scientists, clinicians and engineers across the UK and Europe. You'll be part of a growing team of specialist, Software and Systems Engineers, working with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple disciplines and institutions.

What you will do

You'll be responsible for supporting a diverse range of activities in our dedicated HPC/AI Data Centre, including problem solving, issue diagnosis and fault resolution, improving documentation, automating processes, contributing to training materials and events and business processes such as the processing of purchase orders, generation of reports, managing contractors and liaising with vendors., Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.

We support flexible and family-friendly working and are open to non-standard working patterns. While this is advertised as a full-time role, we would consider applications from candidates who are looking to work less than full-time hours and are open to applicants who live outside Cambridge but are willing to travel to Cambridge when required.

Proven experience in technical problem solving

-Knowledge in the following areas:

-Operating Linux systems -Servers, storage and network hardware infrastructure -Data Centre

-Project coordination

-Highly proactive and enthusiastic

An interest in working with AI and HPC hardware infrastructure is essential. The role is based within a Data Centre.
