Full Job Description

Do you want to further your career in clinical research as part of a team at the forefront of discovery of groundbreaking therapies for childhood and rare diseases?, An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Rheumatology Research Coordinator to join our dynamic research team supporting the delivery of research within Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

Our diverse Research and Innovation directorate, including the NIHR Great Ormond Street Clinical Research Facility, provides a high quality clinical and academic research environment, in which children and young people can take part in research programmes safely and effectively, according to robust and ethically approved protocols.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, and self-motivated candidate, who will be responsible for providing efficient and high-quality coordination and data management support to the clinical and non-clinical research teams in the delivery of a portfolio of rheumatology studies.

Main duties of the job

In this patient facing role, the successful candidate will be responsible for research activities including screening outpatient clinics and inpatient wards for research participants, attending regular clinics throughout the week and holding consent conversations with patients and families in clinical areas. They will capture complex clinical data from medical records and research documentation and enter this data into electronic systems, ensuring this is recorded accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

Part of this role will also be coordination of research visits, and will include attending relevant team briefings, including in theatres, picking up research samples from clinical areas and ensuring these are safely delivered to relevant lab personnel. The candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication with research and clinical teams within the Trust and external stakeholders. The post holder will work closely with UCL colleagues and the wider GOSH Rheumatology and R&I teams.

The post holder will work collaboratively with research nurses and consultants, providing crucial administrative support for study start up activities and preparation of study documentation, ensuring adherence to research legislation. They will assist other Research Coordinators and principal investigators in preparation of study submissions and local tracking of applications, ensuring collection, review and provision of appropriate clinical documents to support regulatory submission
