Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel., In 2009, we established the Eye Research Group Oxford (ERGO) to provide a formal research structure within the Oxford Eye Hospital. Starting with just two dedicated researchers, we have grown into a multidisciplinary team supported by major grant bodies like the South Central RRDN and NIHR. Our collaboration with the University of Oxford ensures high-quality research, translating innovations from the laboratory to patient care. We also focus on training doctors in evidence-based medicine to enhance NHS practice. Our ambitious research initiatives aim to set new standards for integrating scientific discoveries into NHS clinical care. As part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust-one of the largest NHS teaching trusts, including the John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, and Horton General Hospital-we offer a wide range of general and specialist services while being a hub for medical education, training, and research. Our guiding principle, "Delivering Compassionate Excellence," reflects our commitment to compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement, and excellence. These values place patients at the core of our mission, shaping the quality of care we provide and the professional relationships we foster with patients, colleagues, and the wider community.
