Full Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the Study achieves its recruitment goals for a range of research studies by actively aiding clinical staff in enlisting patients. The post holder will collaborate closely with a dynamic, multidisciplinary research team to execute this portfolio study.

We have an opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join our unique respiratory team at GSTT. Our research programme is at the heart of everything we do at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, and plays a vital role in helping us to consolidate and grow on our position as one of the UK'sleading research Trusts.

This is a unique opportunity for a Research Coordinator to help grow the clinical trials service both in terms of volume and quality and support a novel multi-site study for patients with COPD.

The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Research Governance Framework.

The post holder will support the senior trials manager and RAPID trials manager to ensure the smooth day to day running of this novel multi-site research study.

Guy's & St Thomas' (GSTFT) has been appointed host organisation for the LCRN in South London (South London CRN). Guy's and St Thomas' is one of the largest hospital trusts in the country, with an annual turnover of more than £1.2 billion; 2 million patient contacts a year, and employing 13,200 staff. Our hospitals have a long and proud history, dating back almost 900 years, and have been at the forefront of medical progress and innovation since they were founded. We continue to build on these traditions and have a reputation for clinical, teaching and research excellence.

We provide a full range of hospital services for our local communities and - from April 2011 - have integrated community services in Lambeth and Southwark into the Trust. We also provide specialist services for patients from further afield, including cancer, cardiac, kidney, women's and orthopaedic services, and we are home to the Evelina Children's Hospital. As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends. We also have a positive approach to corporate social responsibility and are keen to engage our staff in an agenda that ranges from promoting environmental sustainability to the creation of local employment opportunities.
