Full Job Description
As part of a new Faculty team of Research Environment and Development (RED) Coordinators, the role holder will proactively support strategic thinking and the development of new research and related activities within a department/school. Working closely with the department Senior Leadership Team, activities may include analysis of internal and external data sources to help inform and shape strategy discussions; design and delivery of facilitated events and workshops; provision of tailored support for individual academic colleagues or defined groups such as Early Career Researchers to develop their approaches to research funding.
RED coordinators will identify and engage with opportunities to build on existing departmental research strengths, maximising on-going activity, as well as developing new areas. This may include for example identifying sources of funding for established research groups, helping an academic colleague to build their network or identify potential new partners, advising on relevant university policies and resources to help develop a longer/larger grant application.
The role holder will work with management and support teams at departmental and faculty level to support preparations for REF and annual financial planning and to create and maintain a positive and supportive research culture.
RED Coordinators will have a primary focus on a department/school and will be part of a wider RED Coordinator team within the Faculty. They will work collaboratively and flexibly across this team to share best practice from their department/school and develop faculty wide approaches and resources.
