Full Job Description

The University of Brighton's Research Ethics and Governance Manager to lead and develop the University's policies, procedures, infrastructure and operational systems.
As the University's specialist in research ethics, you will oversee the University ethics and governance framework which covers all disciplines and all levels, from undergraduate through to funded staff research.

The role is based in the Department of Research and Knowledge Exchange. However, you will be expected to build collaborative relationships and networks across the university, relevant national bodies and other universities. As the successful applicant you will need to have a comprehensive knowledge of the research ethics and governance environment and of relevant legislation and regulations within Higher Education. In order to be successful in this post, you should have:
o A strong track record of initiating and delivering successful pan-institutional initiatives including projects, policies and processes in a large organisation working across disciplines.
o Comprehensive knowledge of research, ethics, integrity and due diligence governance, procedures and legislation including the workings of relevant external authorities and regulatory agencies
o Previous experience in designing and delivering training to an academic and non-academic audience.
o Proven ability to manage and motivate staff.
o A comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing higher education including detailed knowledge and understanding of the policy and funding environment governing the management of university research and knowledge exchange.
